Two men detained after the attack on the co-chairman of the Mekh-Khel public organization Sarazhdin Sultygov were arrested for 10 days. This was reported to Fortanga by the victim himself.
«What I know: the two of them seem to have resisted police arrest. They’re blaming it on the third man who escaped. As if he talked them into attacking me. Maybe they’re lying to protect themselves. The investigation doesn’t report everything, either. The one who is on the run is allegedly owed a considerable sum in Chechnya and was thus working off someone’s orders,» said Sarazhdin Sultygov, citing a source in the police.
He said that according to his information, all three participants of the attack were residents of Ingushetia. Two of them were Chechens, and one was an Akkin (an ethnographic group of Chechens).
Sultygov did not speculate on the causes of the incident. «Chechens and Ingush are already sitting on a powder keg, I don’t want to provoke new conflicts today. If they try to commit such an act against me again — well, let them try. After the incident, the police and officers of the Central Election Commission of the Interior Ministry came to see me,» Sultygov said.
The attack took place on the afternoon of January 31 in Nazran. Unknown persons called to Sultygov’s apartment, and when he opened the door, they hit him in the face. All this was recorded by the video surveillance camera in the entrance hall.
Recall that in November 2021 Sarazhdin Sultygov harshly criticized Ramzan Kadyrov in connection with his statements about the border between Chechnya and Ingushetia. After that, information about preparations for an assassination attempt on him and other Ingush activists who criticized the head of Chechnya appeared on the Web. However, Instagram users did not believe in the validity of this information. In January, Sultygov responded to Ramzan Kadyrov’s demand for justified claims from the Ingush people within three days.
