Relatives today conducted a taziat for the murdered brothers Khasan and Hussein Timurziyev in Grozny, having failed to obtain the release of their bodies.
The Timurziyev family despaired of receiving their sons’ bodies – for more than a year and a half now the Chechen side has not complied with their request, a source told Fortanga. So they decided to hold taziyat (condolences) on their deaths.
Earlier, the father of the Timurziyev brothers, Akhmetkhan (mentioned in other sources as Akhmedkhan), appealed to Ramzan Kadyrov for the return of their sons’ bodies.
Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov has previously stated that “if there is a criminal case under an article of terrorism, the bodies will not be handed over to the family. “Otherwise, the law allows relatives to take away their loved ones. The subject will be closed at this point,” he said.
The 18-year-old Timurziyev brothers, natives of Ingushetia living in Chechnya, were murdered in the center of Grozny on December 28, 2020. According to the official version, they attacked two police officers, one of whom died. Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov called the attackers “terrorists”. The video of the attack was not shown until after representatives of the Timurziyevs and Sultygovs appealed to Kadyrov to make the evidence of the crime public. They also demanded the return of their kidnapped relatives. Relatives of slain policeman Magomed Dzhabrailov announced blood vengeance for him. However, on January 7, the elders, imams and relatives of the murdered Timurziyev brothers met and reconciled with the relatives of the dead policeman.
